On Day 1 of the Super High Roller Bowl, Bryn Kenney busts with all aces; Negreanu Chip takes the lead – OKBET Poker News

Bryn Kenney, a suspected poker cheat, busted early on Day 1 of the $300,000 buy-in Super High Roller Bowl when his flopped set of aces were shattered by Daniel Negreanu’s running quads.

Kenney was eliminated from the initial session on the PokerGO featured table after only the third level. On social media, many applauded the player’s swift removal, while several people questioned why he was even allowed to play.

Ali Imsirovic and Jake Schindler, two other alleged cheats, were barred from playing for the rest of the year by PokerGO. However, Kenney and Martin Zamani, a former poker pro who last week even won a Poker Masters competition, were not included in that ban.

24 participants enrolled for the sixth Super High Roller Bowl in Las Vegas, where they are all competing for a seven-figure prize. Negreanu led with 14 players left when the game was over for the night.

Kenney raised from under the gun to 5,000 on the 1,000/2,000 blind level with “a-Diamonds” and “a-Clubs,” and Negreanu, who was in the big blind, called with “3-Hearts” and “3-Diamonds.”

The flip was a-Spades5-Clubs4-Spades, giving the preflop raiser top set. He gambled again, this time for 5,000, and was called by his opponent, who was pursuing a gutter-ball. Negreanu seemed to be the victim of yet another cooler when the 3-Spades arrived on the turn. He wanted a deuce to chop or a one-outer to get quads on the river. Otherwise, the turn card was going to cost the GGPoker ambassador a lot of money.

Negreanu decided to take the lead this time and bet $10,000, after which he got a call. The river was a miracle for poker’s third-most-winning live tournament player, 3-Clubs, but a disaster for poker’s second-most-winning live tournament player.

Negreanu, who was sitting on quads, bet 25,000 before it was increased to 105,000. “DNegs” then pushed all in for Kenney’s 97,000 on top, holding a slightly higher stack. He didn’t make a hasty move and instead deliberated for a few moments, obviously aware that even with aces full and a possible straight flush and four-of-a-kind out there, having the better hand was no guarantee. Even with $300,000 on the line, it’s almost tough to fold in that situation, so he ultimately made the call and learned the unpleasant news. The fortunate hand was a sight for sore eyes for Negreanu, who had a miserable 2022 WSOP. His aces were busted by pocket jacks last week, causing him to lose the $50,000 buy-in Poker Masters series championship.

The poker world has previously seen aces complete bust a well-known player early on Day 1 of a significant event. Former PokerStars Team Pro player Vanessa Selbst flipped a set of aces at the 2017 World Series of Poker Main Event, but her hand was broken by quad-sevens on the turn, much to the pleasure of her opponent Gaelle Baumann.

Selbst sank briefly, much like Kenney on Wednesday, and worried that her monster, virtually unstoppable hand wasn’t any good. Her suspicions were right, but she was unable to fold and left the game before registration had ended.

Negreanu Takes the Lead

Negreanu will be in the lead with 250 large blinds (1,499,000) when play picks back up at noon PT (1 p.m. on PokerGO). There are now 14 players left. With 1,105,000, Mikita Badziakouski is in second position. The top four finishers in this competition get payouts totaling $3,312,000 from the winner.

The eight players that failed to go through Day 1 were Michael Addamo, Stephen Chidwick, and of course Kenney. When Day 2 of the Super High Roller Bowl begins on Thursday, Justin Bonomo, who took home 936,000 and pretty much everything else that year, will have one of the largest stacks.
